Thread Lift

What Exactly does a Thread Lift do?

A Thread Lift does two things; firstly, the threads cause tension in the skin that gives an immediate lifting effect. Secondly the PDO material that the threads are made of, stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin which creates firmer skin.

Are there any side effects and is there any downtime after the treatment?

Following the procedure there will be some swelling, redness, pain, discolouration and tenderness where the threads are placed.  There may also be puckering/irregularity of the skin.

Most of these effects usually resolve spontaneously within several days after the procedure, although the tenderness to touch over the thread is likely to persist for a few weeks and is an indication of effective collagen stimulation. The puckering may last a couple of weeks and is not easy to disguise

How do I prepare for the treatment?

We encourage patients to wash their hair the morning of the treatment and to make sure skin is clean and to avoid any lotions, creams, perfumes, powder, or makeup before the treatment.

What post care advice I should follow?

You will experience some slight swelling and bruising. The swelling  should subside within a few days but it may take a couple of weeks for the bruising to resolve.  Some discomfort may be experienced but can be managed with paracetamol and anti-inflammatories like celebrex/ibuprofen/diclofenac etc.

When will I see results and how long does the treatment take?

Results can be seen immediately and will continue improve over time.  The full results can be seen around 6-12 weeks post procedure and will last at least a couple of years, but this can vary depending on the individual.

You will be booked in for 90 minutes although the actual insertion of the threads takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
